Autorlando Sport was present this weekend at the third round of GT4 European Series with the 911 GT4, the no. 76 with Ghezzi Mengozzi, leader in class AM, and the no. 75 with Cerati Fondi in 3° position AM.
Everything is ready but at the last minute Mengozzi isn’t available, fortunately Alessandro Giovanelli takes his the place, driver well known for the third place in class AM at 2016 with the 911 GT4 of Autorlando with the same Giuseppe Ghezzi.
After the good free practices on Friday during the qualifying 1 on Saturday morning start the rain; Giovanelli arrives 2nd in class AM and 9th overall while Cerati 4th in in class AM and 23th overall. In qualifying 2 Ghezzi obtain 4th place in class AM end 17th overall while Fondi 6th in class AM end 23th overall. Unfortunately, Ghezzi will lose 5 place at the starting grid for a penalty at the end of Race 2 at Brands Hatch.
Race 1 at Saturday afternoon, chaos at the start with contacts and out of track at the first corner and the no. 75 of Cerati have to retire unjustly. At the re-start after the safety car, Giovanelli, lap after lap, is the leader of class AM and at the driver change the car is stopped due to a breakage of the strap.
After repairing the cars, team and drivers are ready for Race 2 on Sunday morning.
Ghezzi starts very from the 21th place (due to the penalty) and lap after lap gains position up to the 4th place while Fondi is in the 7th position. At the drive change, Giovanelli takes the place of his teammate, keeps the position, and for a stroke of luck (a penalty for the KTM) ending the race in 3rd place overall. Cerati ends the race in 8th place.
Ghezzi is leader in class AM with 93 points followed to Mengozzi in second place with 78 points and Cerati and Fondi in 6th place with 52 points.
Next appointment for the European Gt4 is fixed for the 16 of July at Slovakiaring.
