Unforgettable weekend which has just ended in Misano in the context of Blancpain GT-Sprint for Autorlando-Sport that with the crew Ghezzi-Giovanelli (#76) reaches the top of AM championship.
Friday is free practice day but a strong summer storm pours the first session, stopped for 25 minutes for extremely dangerous conditions judged by race direction, and the second session which becomes better in the last half an hour when the storm has exhausted all his strength. The game is played only in qualifying without knowing how the opponents are going.
Saturday qualifying starts at 9.30 and these are wonderful for the crew Giovanelli-Ghezzi: Giovanelli defeats the pole position of his class and a fourth place overall and Ghezzi takes a second place in his class. The other car, driven by Cerati and Fondi, obtains a fifth place with Cerati whereas his teammate Fondi obtains the seventh place but the same place overall.
Race 1 ends at its best for Ghezzi-Giovanelli’s car #76 which win in their class, overtaking Leutwiler on his Cayman (#222), and go on the top of AM championship. The race is conditioned from two safety car and the comeback of the car #42 which has no success. A very good race also for Fondi-Cerati which end the race in the fifth place and go up to the eighth position of the championship
Race 2 has not the same satisfactions but there are a lot of overtaking until the checkered flag. Ghezzi-Giovanelli start from the second place in their class and finish the race in the same position behind Leutwiler’s Cayman #222 wich earns some points but remains in the second place of the championship.
Talking about championship, it goes better to Cerati-Fondi which go to the sixth place of championship thanks to the 12 points obtained with the fourth place in the class.
A well-deserved applause goes to the boys of the team and to the 4 drivers which did not disappoint expectations in the home-race making the best during qualifying and the race.
They will have to keep this rhythm to continue celebrating, the championship is difficult and the rivals are hardened, but we are sure that emotions will not miss in the next event of SPA 22 july.
