Everything is ready in Le Castellet for the beginning of Master Endurance Legends(contour championship of Formula 1) where Autorlando-Sport takes sides with the Porsche 996 RSR.
On Friday, for the free practice session, Alex Caffi drives the car #76.
due to the absence of radio communications, the strategy is set from the beginning and it forecasts that after 3 laps Alex stops for the check of impressions. After the pressures Alex starts again for a 6 laps series where he can impose a rhythm on 2m14s despite the overtaking suffered by the prototypes (Ferrari F333) and the traffic on the track.
At the end of the session Alex classified with the time of 2:14:178 at the thirteenth place overall and second place of the class.
On Saturday morning, qualifying time, Alex Caffi starts the session. Due to delays in the previous event, the qualifying time starts to slide even if the session is under red flags to allow to all the teams and cars to reach the pit lane. At the third time trial, Alex can take the lap time at 2:11:806 (fourteenth overall, second of the class), then he goes back to the box and leaves the driving of the car #76 to Maurizio, who drives for the first time in this event his Porsche 996 RSR.
On Saturday at 19.15 race 1 starts; Alex Caffi is in the seventh row and, after the launched start, he is in the twelfth position overall. In the second lap he overtakes the Ferrari 550 on the straight of the boxes and in the following lap he can catch the Ferrari 458 #69 and he reaches the first position of his class, second in the GT championship. Alex does not relax and continues to hammer a constant rhythm of 2:11 obtaining also a 2:10. The other GT cannot reach Alex and he can stabilize his first positions earning a margin of 2 seconds on the car behind him and making laps as fast as the GT1 which is in front of him at less than 2 seconds. After 13 laps, Alex finishes this fantastic race winning in his class and reaching the second positions in the GT overall classification.
Everything is ready for race 2 on Sunday morning at 9:25 where, because of the abandonment of a car, Maurizio Fratti starts from the sixth row on the left side (eleventh position overall). At the start Fratti takes a while to find the rhythm and in the first lap he loses two positions finishing behind the Ferrari 430 GTC driven by Newey. At the third lap, he can find the feeling with the car and the track and he increases his rhythm making fast laps until making 2.14.501. at the tenth lap Newey’s car #43 comes into contact with a prototype that was doubling it and ends off the track without the possibility of resuming the circuit way. Fratti goes to the third position of his class and the fifth position GT overall.
Compliments to the boys of the team but mostly to Maurizio Fratti and Alex Caffi which could keep an high level of performance of the glorious Porsche 996 RSR in this competition of such high prestige to be bound to formula 1.
