At Spa-Francorchamps, in the Belgian Ardennes, on stage the Round 5 of the SRO GT4 Series, for the occasion in support of the main event of the 24h of the GT World Challenge.

Autorlando-sport again on track with the two 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR with a new couples for the season. Car #75 sees the welcome return of Maurizio Fondi alongside the confirmed Dario Cerati while on car #76 the expert and solid Giuseppe Ghezzi sees the debut of the South Tyrolean Andreas Mayrl, known for being a good Olympic athlete of the blue ski team and now Porsche testers of road cars.

Due to the presence of the 24h, the program is all anticipated of a day with the two sessions of free practice scheduled for Thursday. FP1 running in for everyone on the difficult, long and challenging track that has made the history of motoring while FP2 gives the best time of AM class to car #76. A good hope for the weekend race.

Friday for Q1 and Q2 ruined by the rain, which is far from rare around here, with Cerati in 4th positiion in class AM and Ghezzi in 5th position. Q2 with inverted positions with Mayrl 4° and Fondi 5° in class AM.

Green light of Race1 that, due to the incessant rain puts in crisis the broken safety mechanisms, with the Safety Car regime. A good pace for Ghezzi that at the driver change gives the wheel to Mayrl in third position. The lack of experience in the wet, for more in the race, however, forces him to give up the podium finishing anyway with a good 4th place. Regular race instead for Cerati and Fondi that close 5th.

Race 2 still in uncertain weather with humid track and serene breaths but the team’s choice to mount rain tires will prove to be right. At the start Mayrl and Fondi start well and earn two positions each scoring fast and regular times until the stop, an impeccable car #76 with Ghezzi taking the place of Andreas, less than car #75 losing a position to Cerati. At the checkered flag Ghezzi and Mayrl obtain a good second place behind the impregnable Aston Martin while with a little ‘regret for the podium faded finish Cerati and Fondi in 4th position.

In the overall standings now Ghezzi is 3rd position in class AM with 127 points while Cerati is 5th with 85 points.

Next appointment, the last of this European GT4 series, in mid-November at the French circuit of Le Castellet.
