Press release 12/2019 20.05.2018

This weekend our team was busy on two stages: two 718 Cayman into the Endurance Italian GT Championship in Misano and with the 934 Turbo Jagermeister and the 996 RSR GT2 into the  SPA-Classic, organized by Peter Auto in Belgium.

In Belgium, unlike in Italy, the weather saved our kids from the rain, which was only mildly seen on Friday morning when three sessions were scheduled: CER II free practice sessions where Cabianca and Fratti find after few laps a bore at the gearbox and the two Qualifications, 11:35 and 17:30, in the Endurance Racing Legend championship in which Maurizio Fratti driving the 996 RSR GT2 wins a 12th place overall, 3rd in the GT2b class, behind only to the two Vipers.

On Saturday the 996 RSR disputed the two races, at 09.15 race 1 closed with a wonderful 2nd class place, as well as race 2 scheduled at 2.30 pm. The Viper was too fast and Fratti put a lot of seconds between him and the pursuers to manage the race in the best way. Meanwhile the program foresaw the qualifications of the CER II at 12:50, where the 934, put back on track by the boys during the evening, closed the qualify with a 12th class place; a results that does not fully reflect the characteristics of the car but that with a time of 2 ’47” 240 says a lot about the potential of the car. The CER II race is scheduled for Sunday, 60 ’with the driver-change in the middle. Cabianca starts and leads a shrewd and trouble-free race by bringing the car to the colleague in 10th class position; Maurizio’s stint is conditioned by the double safety car, the crew closes in 8th place in the class and for the championship the  standings smiles at the drivers because not all the direct opponents gain points. A definitely positive weekend for the 996 in the Endurance Racing Legend but a smile can also be read on the face of Cabianca-Fratti that with the 934 on Friday had been apprehensive before the guys in the team with an impeccable job solved the hitch that occurred.

At the same time the engines of the Italian Gran Turismo Endurance Championship were re-started on the Misano circuit, which saw the return of the Autorlando Team to the track with the two Porsche Cayman 718 GT4, entrusted to the trio Ghezzi-Chiesa-Camathias car #276 and to the trio Cerati-Fondi-Ruberti for # 275.

In the two free practice sessions of an hour and a half each, the two Pedrengo horses on a dry track finishing third (# 276) and fourth (# 275) with good prospects for qualifying and the race. The qualifying session started on Saturday instead of the uncertain weather due to the rain that fell just a few minutes before the start of the sessions, which however allowed the drivers to start with slick tires even in wet track conditions. The Q1 saw the start of the # 276 cars with the Chiesa and the # 275 with Fondi, which got the second and fourth time of the class respectively. In Q2 the # 276 entrusted to Ghezzi and the # 275 to Cerati obtained respectively the fourth and fifth position of the category. The Q3 saw a strong downpour of water that compromised the qualifications of all the cars on the track. Ruberti (# 275) will finish second in the class while Camathias (# 276) closes fifth in class, most penalized by the adverse weather conditions found when he was on the track. The sum of the three best times that determines the starting grid brought the two cars to the fourth and fifth place in the class, respectively the # 276 and the # 275

The Sunday Race starts in wet track and for both Autorlando’s car the start is excellent in particular for the # 276 which took the head of its class with Ghezzi for almost the entire race, giving up only two positions in the final laps bringing the Ghezzi-Chiesa crew Camathias to take a bronze. More regular was the race of the car # 275 with Cerati-Fondi-Ruberti that closed in 4th place, immediately behind the twin car. A weekend of alternate emotions for the victory that escaped a few kilometers from the end, softened by a third class position that is close to both the Team and the riders after the performances demonstrated throughout the weekend and in the previous appearances.

The next appointment will be on June 23rd on the track at Imola for the second race of the Italian Gran Turismo Sprint Championship, while the CER starts the engines on June 9th on the Dijon track
