Press Release 06/2019 15.04.2018
Seasonal debut for the championships of the Peroni Race Group on the Tuscan racetrack of Mugello and Autorlando-Sport was present on the grid of the 911 RaceCup with Adriano Visdomini on the 997 GT3 Cup and the couple Mario Marsella-Andrea Nori in the Italian Autostoriche Championship with a 911S of the early 70s. Free practice Friday was useful for everyone to regain confidence with the means, the track and the procedures in view of the qualifying held all on Saturday, with a single session of 30 minutes.
Visdomini uses the right tires to qualify 10th overall, 2nd in the GTC class, completing a few laps timed with the aim of “saving” tires in view of the next day’s race, scheduled for a distance of 50 minutes with a mandatory stop between the 22nd and 28th minutes. In the historical Nori brings the 911 to an excellent 10th place overall, 2nd in class on over thirty starters, with Marsella defending itself in view of a race scheduled on the distance of an hour with a stop for mandatory driver change between 20 ° and the 40th minute of the race.
As said, both races on Sunday, the historical championship at the start with the green light at 13:30; unfortunately Marsella has to renounce the race weakened by adverse weather conditions all weekend, forcing Nori to be the only driver in the race. The start is made under the safety car for the asphalt made slippery by the rain but this does not discourage Nori that in a few laps gains the absolute first place managing in peace a gap that initially grow up to ten seconds. At the height of his advantage, however, he saw himself betrayed by his vehicle, which forced him to end a race that otherwise could have been triumphant, at the head of much more powerful cars like the Porsche 935 and 930. Positive is the excellent performance of the middle and driver, which bodes well for the next appointment.
In the 911 Race Cup that see the green light at 14.45 on a track that was becoming increasingly dry and that allowed to all the competitors to mount the slick tires on the grid. The traffic lights go out and the driver of the car n.72, Adriano Visdomini, immediately gains a position taking him to ninth place, second of category. It is in this position and in clear recovery on his direct rivals on 8th place that the left rear tire leaves the rider, forcing him to a premature retirement.
After the natural regret, very difficult to digest, the team is now working to rework the amount of positive data that emerged from this weekend, so that today’s disappointment can turn into tomorrow’s success, thanks to passion, competence and hard work of every single member of the Racing Department.
